Phir wohi raat, wohi gham…….

Lyricist: Rajendra Krishna; Singer: Talat Mehmood; Music Director: Madan Mohan, Movie: Jahan Ara (1964)

Once again, the familiar darkness has spread
Bringing with it its usual despair
Yet again, like an old faithful friend
Your memories have returned
To soothe my heart

Once again, my imagination has carried me beside you
And, as if, all our time together has come rushing back
Only for a while my heart will be consoled
It is foolish, after all!

Destiny has split our paths
So who knows if we’ll meet again
And who is to say
If our journey will be completed
In this lifetime

Once again, it will be the night of our separation
But, unaware, I’ll keep talking of our deep love
As always, inebriated with the perfume of your hair
I have yet again sworn to suffer in love
